USABookNews.com, the premiere online magazine and review website for mainstream and independent publishing houses, announced the winners and finalists of THE USA “BEST BOOKS 2011” AWARDS on November 1, 2011. Over 500 winners and finalists were announced in over 140 categories covering print, e-books and audio books. Awards were presented for titles published in 2010 and 2011.

Jeffrey Keen, President and CEO of USA Book News, said this year’s contest yielded an unprecedented number of entries, which were then narrowed down to over 500 winners and finalists.

Gilded Magic Publishing wishes to congratulate Jorge Aguirre and Rafael Rosado on their first book "GIANTS BEWARE." Robert A. Brubaker had the pleasure to work with Rafael on several student films at The Ohio State University. "I remember being impressed with the quality of Rafael's work. While many students were producing rough animation tests, Rafael was cranking out fully polished animated material. I wish Rafael and Jorge the greatest success with their new series."

Jorge Aguirre is a Colombian-American from Columbus, Ohio. He’s written everything from the most popular children’s shows to documentaries. He lives on the East Coast.

Born in Puerto Rico and based in Ohio, Rafael Rosado is a veteran of the animation industry. He is currently a storyboard artist for Warner Brothers, Disney, and Cartoon Network.

"Once we found the courage to say,"we can do it!" Sherry and I spent a humbling five years bringing Cup Of Glitter to print. Most of that time spent learning a new and unfamiliar business, brushing up on whatever skills we had as a writer and illustrator and determining the artistic direction we wanted for Sherry's story to come to life.

 

Though we considered producing the art as a series of 2D illustrations, we eventually decided to take the more risky and expensive approach of providing our readers with an immersive, 3D style of art usually reserved for graphic novels and movie posters. This would require the latest in computer technology, learning a new set of skills in a plethora of unfamiliar software packages and questioning the sanity of our decision.

On May 11th, 2011 we received news that Cup Of Glitter was recognized as an Award Winning Finalist for Children's Picture Book: Softcover Edition in the 2011 International Book Awards

Becoming Award Winning Finalists told Sherry and I that our emphasis on plussing the reader's experience, was working and our efforts were welcomed and recognized by experts in the children's book publishing industry.

We want to thank Jeffrey Keen, the President and CEO of JPX Media Group and his wonderful team for their recognition and honor for Cup Of Glitter. It means more than you can imagine.
